**Boeing Defense, Space & Security's (BDS)** is seeking multiple **mid-level/senior Equipment and Tool Designer(s)** to join the Production Engineering Team in **Mesa, AZ** . Our Production Engineering team provides support throughout the Mesa site including: the AH-64 Apache Final Assembly, Production Flight Test areas, Manufacturing, Electrical, and Composite Centers of Excellence, and Depot, Repair, and Overhaul.

Equipment and Tool Designers are responsible for the procurement, maintenance and repair of new and existing production tools. They apply engineering principles to determine appropriate methods to repair and maintain tools for fabrication and assembly. Equipment and Tool Designers work closely with multiple engineering disciplines, operations and tool fabrication.

**Position Responsibilities:**

As the Mesa team is hiring for multiple positions, base responsibilities may include:

+ Investigates and develops complex equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements.

+ Participates in design reviews, collects design requirements, creates and revises drawings and models, researches the application of robotics, automation and new technology to support the build plan.

+ Creates off-load packages, specifications, purchase requests and usage instructions for equipment and tooling.

+ Checks designs for compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.

+ Develops and documents equipment and tooling inspection and usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and user training.

+ Provides technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies by investigating problems and analyzing data to identify solutions.

+ Maintains hardware and software configuration. Assesses and makes recommendations for disposition of equipment and tooling.

+ Mentor others from multiple teams in resolving problems/implementing process improvements.

+ Interprets and implements engineering requirements into a production environment.

+ Must be able to occasionally lift at least 35 pounds.

+ Must be able access production environments; to include, aircraft, large milling machines, etc.

+ Overtime, weekend support and/or travel may be required to support Production priorities.

**This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.**

**The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.**

**Basic Qualifications** **(Required Skills & Experience):**

+ **(Level 3) - Associate degree and 3+ years or a Bachelor +1 year or 5 years related experience. OR (Level 4) - Associate degree and 6+ years or a Bachelor +4 year or 8 years related experience.**

+ 3+ years’ experience working in and/or supporting a production environment.

+ 3+ years’ experience mentoring others from multiple teams in resolving problems/implementing process improvements.

+ 3+ years’ experience interpreting and implementing engineering requirements into a production environment.

+ Occasionally, must be able to lift 35 pounds.

+ Strong communication skills both verbally and written.

+ Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).

**Preferred Qualifications** **(Desired Skills & Experience):**

+ 2+ years of Tool Liaison Engineering experience with Vertical Lift & Inter-organizational Work packages supporting composite and metallic tools.

+ Experience with tool making / machining experience preferred with includes designing and fabricating tooling, jigs and fixtures (e.g. composites, plastics, master-plaster pattern maker, etc.).

+ Experience with dispositioning tooling non-conformances and procurement of tooling materials.

+ Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Contract Tool Management Application (CTMA), Common Automated Procurement Request System (CAPRs), Unigraphics (UG), and Teamcenter (PDM) systems is desired.

+ Experience with Boeing specifications and drawings.

+ Experience with reviewing and checking tool drawings.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range (Level 3): $63,750 - $86,250

Summary pay range (Level 4): $75,650 - $102,350
