Nammo Defense Systems Inc., a defense contractor, manufactures and supports shoulder-fired systems; energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, medium & large caliber ammunitions, mortar ammunition; and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aero-structures.

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the role of Engineering Technician Supervisor in the Energetic Materials Manufacturing Department.

Position Summary:

The Engineering Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of Engineering Technicians who perform a variety of technical tasks including design, installation, troubleshooting, and assembly of manufacturing equipment and infrastructure. This role involves both technical expertise and leadership skills. The supervisor ensures that projects are assigned and completed on time to support production.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work with the Engineering Manager to assign and manage day-to-day assignments of a team of Engineering Technicians to support production.

• Assist in safely processing energetic materials to meet program requirements, applying basic engineering level principles.

• Recruit, hire, and train Engineering Technicians.

• Conduct performance reviews and provide continual performance feedback.

• Oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

• Develop and manage project timelines.

• Coordinate with other departments and external stakeholders.

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of engineering principles and practices.

• Troubleshoot equipment and processes to identify and resolve issues promptly.

• Ensure safe working conditions by identifying potential risks associated with tasks and implementing appropriate safety measures.

• Review and assess the results of experiments and analyses conducted in conjunction with engineering.

• Contribute to the development of new tooling, processes, and techniques to enhance manufacturing operations.

• Adhere to standard practices and safety procedures to maintain a secure work environment.

• Wear appropriate safety equipment, such as protective eyewear, coveralls, conductive footwear, respirators, as required.

Required Experience & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred.

• Associates or two-year technical degree with additional experience.

• Several years of management experience working in a manufacturing environment.

• Proficiency in operating a wide range of equipment, including larger and handheld devices such as cranes, pumps, forklifts, mixers, hydraulics, feeder/extruders, compressors, particle size analyzers, ovens, and drill presses.

• General understanding of chemical science, including overlapping polymers, analytical measurements, and physical properties.

• Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, formulations, and concepts.

• Hands-on experience with program/project work in production and/or applied research and development (R&D) support.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

• Familiarity with energetic material regulations and safe handling/measurement practices.

• Effective collaboration and interpersonal skills, working well with cross-functional teams.

• Clear and effective communication abilities.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to obtain approval through ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) to handle Nammo Defense Systems' products and information.
