Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is seeking a **Tool Designer** to join our team. This position will be supporting the Propulsion Systems Division at our facility located in **Magna, Utah** location.

We are excited for you to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. Our domain provides work that contributes to the latest advancements being made in the missile defense industry.

Candidate will be responsible for the concept, design, fabrication drawings, fabrication support for tooling and equipment for Solid Rocket Motor applications.

**Roles and Responsibilities:**

+ Create 3D models and 2D drawings to be used in the manufacturing of new tooling, to support the production of rocket motors.

+ Create effective and safe equipment that is used to manufacture, test, qualify, and transport rocket motors or rocket motor components.

+ Interface with review team to assure customer satisfaction with design

+ Work alongside the manufacturing team to ensure overall program quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved

+ Work with internal Customers to concept needed support equipment for new and existing programs

+ Developing tooling concepts, creating/reviewing, and improving manufacturing processes to meet Customer requirements

+ Work closely with Tool Engineers to create models and final drawings.

+ Understand/monitor cost and schedule

+ Review engineering drawings and designs for manufacturability

+ Inspect tool configuration for drawing compliance, including fit, form and function

**Basic Qualifications:**

This position can be filled at either a level 01 or level 02.

**Basic Qualifications for a level 01**

+ BS - Mechanical Design or Technical field or Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or Technical field with 2 years technical experience or High School and 5 years relevant experience in design and fabrication of special tooling and related equipment.

+ Demonstrated ability to evaluate vendor and equipment capability and ability to perform required tasks to include production of tooling as well as unique aerospace part production.

+ CAD modeling and drafting experience.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Siemens NX/Teamcenter experience

**Basic Qualifications for a level 02**

+ BS - Mechanical Design or Technical field plus 2 years experience or Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or Technical field with 4 years technical experience or High School and 7 years relevant experience in design and fabrication of special tooling and related equipment.

+ Demonstrated ability to evaluate vendor and equipment capability and ability to perform required tasks to include production of tooling as well as unique aerospace part production.

+ CAD modeling and drafting experience.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Siemens NX/Teamcenter experience

**Additional Requirements**

Strong candidates for this position will possess:

+ Desire and passion to design and create support tooling/equipment.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects, and resources.

+ Technical attention to detail.

+ Design for manufacturability

+ Knowledge and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018).

+ Knowledge and application of drawing weld symbols and application of AWS (American Weld Society) specifications.

+ Knowledge of applicable OSHA Safety Standards.

+ Ability to 3D model tool designs using Siemens NX/Teamcenter with a strong background in 2D drafting/detailing.

+ Ability to work in an office, team environment.

+ People with hands-on mechanical aptitude and knowledge of manufacturing methods excel in this position.

**Salary Range:** $56,600 - $85,000

**Salary Range 2:** $68,500 - $120,700

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
