**Responsibilities**
**Position Summary:**
Under the direction of the MAP Program Manager the Medicare Staff Counselor is responsible for assisting Medicare Beneficiaries throughout the state of Nevada with their Medicare needs and inquiries. This involves researching and providing up-to-date and accurate information reviewing current coverage assistance programs and enrollment options including Medicare Part D plans and Medicaid eligibility providing unbiased counseling and educating beneficiaries to prevent detect and report Medicare Fraud.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum:**
+ 3 years working with public in a community setting
+ High School or equivalent.
+ Good written and oral communication skills
+ Proficient in use of computer including internet research and Microsoft Office
+ Ability to research and interpret complex issues
+ Ability to work with diverse groups such as representatives of other social service agencies institution officials the public and Medicare beneficiaries
+ General knowledge of office procedures.
+ Some travel may be required
+ Certified as a Nevada MAP Benefits Counselor or receive certification within 30 days of appointment
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Background in customer relations
+ call management information and referral or related field that includes phone skills and public speaking preferred
+ Some college preferred
**Pay Range**
$14.15 - $19.45 /hour
