As a **Retail Pharmacy Technician Trainee,** you will prepare and dispense medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, provide prescription support services for patients to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient delivery of medication therapy, and more. **Shifts will be varied, and you must be able to work all hours of business operation. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 7AM to 8PM and Saturday and Sunday 8AM – 6PM. Holiday hours are from 8AM – 3PM, closed on Christmas Day.**

Clinical Pharmacy Services is responsible for the management of the Banner formulary, development of standardized system wide clinical pharmacy services, and management of adverse drug event preventions. Clinical Pharmacy Services provides collaborative drug therapy management and educational interventions in patient care to optimize medication therapy, improve outcomes, promote wellness, and disease prevention. POSITION SUMMARY

This position will prepare and dispense medication under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Provide prescription support services for patients to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient delivery of medication therapy. Provide excellent customer service skills, high attention to detail, strong problem solving, documentation and computer skills. Work closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support pharmaceutical care activities, complete pharmacy billing activities, record keeping, reporting, inventory management, and arrange appropriate medication delivery.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, review and interpret prescriptions.

2. Prepare and dispense appropriate amount of medication under supervision of a pharmacist. Deliver medications accurately to the patient.

3. Answer phones, accept prescriptions, and may communicate with patients in waiting area.

4. Assist with inventory, maintain a clean work environment, and assist with any other administrative duties as assigned by supervising pharmacists or senior technicians.

5. Follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and perform other work assignments

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires Pharmacy Technician trainee registration or licensure in the state of practice per state requirements.

Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.

A fingerprint clearance card is no longer required for the trainee registration and must be submitted when the full licensure application is submitted.

Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant work experience. Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on the job training required. Strong customer service focus, superior problem-solving abilities. Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associates or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation preferred. Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile and hazardous drug compounding preferred. Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred. Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable program.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
