Responsibilities
What you will be doing:
+ Ensures buses operate in a safe, comfortable, like-new condition by performing high quality maintenance repairs and inspections.
+ Performs preventative maintenance inspections and repair on all business-related vehicles, to include heavy and light duty equipment.
+ Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, HVAC, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
+ Rebuilds engines, transmissions, and other components.
+ Performs road calls, on-the-road repairs, and road tests as needed.
+ Keeps assigned work area clean and organized.
+ Maintains DOT card and Class B driver license.
+ Other related duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
What you will need?
+ Graduation from a diesel trade school preferred, a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
+ A valid Class B driver license with Passenger endorsement and excellent motor vehicle record required.
+ Current DOT certification must be maintained.
+ Three to five years' recent bus or heavy-duty truck repair experience.
+ Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, and various heavy equipment engines, transmissions, starting and charging systems, air brake systems, electrical systems, and component overhaul procedures required.
+ Ability to operate hoists, machine tools and other related equipment required.
+ Must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner.
+ Must be able to comprehend parts books and maintenance manuals, and accurately complete any necessary reports or other documents.
+ Must possess basic computer knowledge.

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Lead Technician provides direction to a group of technicians to ensure that all repairs and maintenance of equipment are performed in compliance with the Company’s safety standards and applicable federal and state regulations. The Maintenance Lead Technician is responsible for all chassis (diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks) and refuse bodywork, including, but not limited to, hydraulic, electrical, heating and air conditioning system maintenance and repair. In addition, the Lead Technician diagnoses more complicated repair work; provides coaching on diagnostic techniques to subordinate technicians; performs external repair inspections to ensure all repair work is done in a safe manner; and schedules the repair work for his or her work group to ensure that all repair and maintenance work is done in a safe and timely manner, reducing lost productivity within the shop.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Maintains expert knowledge of, and advanced working proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems, with the ability to perform complex repair maintenance functions, both on-site and on the road:o Chassis component repair and maintenance; Refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systemso Air and hydraulic braking systems;o Engine repair and maintenance;o Suspension, drivetrain and steering systems; ando Heating and air conditioning systems.o Performs line maintenance welding and fabrication.o Provides direction to technicians assigned to his or her work group to ensure that all repair and maintenance work is performed in a safe, efficient and timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some (not all required) of the following heavy truck, or automotive systems:o Suspensions, Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, Diesel Emissions.
+ At least 3 years of experience in a role requiring compliance with OSHA Haz Com, OSHA Lock Out Tag Out, and all OSHA fire protection regulations is a plus but not required.

+ ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) is a plus but not required.

As a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech II), you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance, preventive maintenance and minor repairs of equipment in a safe and professional manner. **What you'll do:**
+ Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance and repair of rental equipment and tools involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems
+ Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
+ Demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment for customers
+ Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
+ Other duties assigned as needed
**Requirements:**
+ High School diploma or equivalent
+ Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
+ 1-2 years of experience repairing/maintaining vehicles and equipment; or trade school graduate
+ Must own tools applicable to position
+ Basic understanding of schematics and diagrams
+ Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
+ Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
*This position is second shift: Sunday through Thursday, 4:30PM to Midnight.
This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
