The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at NAU is housed within the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS). The DPT Program offers one hybrid and two residential

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs-one at the Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC) and the other on the Flagstaff Mountain campus.

As part of NAU's New Economy Initiative, the DPT Program plays a crucial role in educating future physical therapists who will address health disparities in Arizona and beyond. Program members collaborate with community, clinical, and academic partners to break down barriers and increase access to physical therapy education, ensuring a well-prepared workforce for the evolving healthcare landscape.

About the Position

The NAU Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is at the forefront of Competency and Entrustment-Based Education (CEBE), a progressive approach designed to meet the diverse and evolving healthcare needs of society. This model integrates learning outcomes and assessments across didactic and clinical education, ensuring graduates are fully prepared for the complexities of contemporary physical therapy practice.

The DPT Program seeks a highly motivated and innovative faculty member who embraces this CEBE paradigm shift and is adept at utilizing technology to enhance health professions education. With a specialized faculty team, we welcome applications from candidates with expertise across all primary areas of physical therapy practice.

This is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position located in our residential Flagstaff DPT program at the Flagstaff Mountain campus.
Responsibilities Include

• Design, deliver, and assess engaging, evidence-based course content within a Competency and Entrustment-Based Education framework.
• Participate in program assessment, accreditation activities, and continuous quality improvement processes.
• Attend program, department, college, and university meetings and serve on assigned committees.
• Engage in institutional and professional service.
• Develop a scholarly agenda.
• Remain current with professional advancements and integrate relevant developments into teaching and scholarship.
• Support and promote the mission and vision of the institution and the physical therapy department.

Minimum Qualifications

For Assistant Professor:

• Eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Arizona.
• Academic doctoral degree (i.e. PhD, EdD, DSc) from an accredited institution in a field related to physical therapy.
• Minimum of three years of full-time post-licensure clinical practice experience.
• Contemporary expertise that represents knowledge and skills reflective of current physical therapist practice and healthcare systems.
• Defined area of scholarship.

For Associate Professor:

• Eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Arizona.
• Academic doctoral degree (i.e. PhD, EdD, DSc) from an accredited institution in a field.

• Previous or current academic appointment at rank, or academic record equivalent to an associate professor at NAU.
• Minimum of three years of full-time post-licensure clinical practice experience.
• Minimum of five years of full-time academic experience within a physical therapist education program.

**Where You Will Work**

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

**Description**

Under the direction of the Aquatics Specialist, perform assistance, training and supervision to Lifeguards/Swim Instructors as required. Maintain and develop a comprehensive swim lesson program at the pool. Perform public safety work in preventing injuries in the municipal pool facility.

+ Supervise and evaluate Lifeguard/Swim Instructing staff, manage pool deck area and its patrons

+ Perform a variety of duties including teaching swim lessons, constant observance of patrons, enforcement of safety rules and regulations, and administration of first aid and/or artificial resuscitation

+ Train Lifeguards/swim Instructors and Pool Aides in the policies, rules and regulations governing the use of the pool facilities

+ Responsible for the completion of all pool deck work (i.e., cleaning decks, gutters, guardhouse, diving boards, vacuuming, etc.)

+ Responsible for all aspects of running a comprehensive public swim lesson program and competitive swimming program

+ Prepare and maintain swimming schedules and training records

+ Assist in the conduct of special swimming activities

+ Keep accurate records of all essential functions related to the job

+ Handle all patron and pool problems in an efficient, timely and proper manner according to established procedures

+ Function as a lead part of a crew within an emergency plan for the handling of accidents in pool areas

+ Perform other duties as required

**Qualifications**

**Minimum Qualifications**

+ Three (3) months (one (1)season) of lifeguarding experience

+ American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED Certifications

+ Knowledge of lifeguarding

+ Experience running swim programs

The Instructor Senior Analyst is a multifaceted role that does instructional design work and delivers training on a wide variety of topics. The person selected for this opportunity will facilitate instructor led training courses, help create training resources, create exams, and certifications.
